Singaraja – Faculty of Education keep making serious effort to increase the quality of university in order to produce excellent and competitive human resource. Through Carrier Development Cluster, Faculty of Education held Focus Group Discussion (FGD) related to Tracer Study on Thursday morning (14/04/22).
The event which took place at the Department Meeting Room was attended by Deanery, Department Leader and lecturers of Faculty of Education. In this occasion, speaker from Tracer Study Division, Technical Implementation Unit of Carrier Development and Student Entrepreneurship (UPT PKKM) Undiksha, I Made Suarsana, S.Pd., M.Si., explained that Tracer Study was a structured survey to find out the carrier development and the graduates impermanence in the world of work.
“This tracer was done systematically using standardized instrument, scientific method and exact data analysis so that the result report of this tracer could be base for bigger policy”, he mentioned. Next, he conveyed that beside it was important for the graduates, the existence of Tracer Study was also essential in fulfilling the national policy related to University Key Work Indicators.
“So it is important for the graduates to fill in the tracer, first, for the sake of the graduates themselves, at campus we have network to the world of entrepreneur, so that information related to the world of work can be conveyed to the students. Then from the data that they filled in, we can make them as the determiner for the next policy, for example in the process of curriculum renewal, soft skill couching which the students need so that they are ready to enter the world of work and also to support the fulfillment of national policy on the University Key Performance Indicators”, he said.
In line with this, the Head of Development Carrier Cluster Faculty of Education, Dr. I Made Citra Wibawa, S.Pd., M.Pd., targeted the implementation of Tracer Study at the Faculty of Education would be done in May by sending the instrument to all alumni which were noted at Higher Education Data Base (PD Dikti) in 2021, with the target of 85%.Supporting this achievement, he and the Carrier Development Cluster designed some strategies, such as establishing coordination with Tracer Study Division and optimalizing communication with alumni. He was optimistic being able to achieve 80% of the target which has been designed.
“We target at least in May we will conduct the Tracer Study by sending the instrument to all alumni in 2021, and it will be report every 3 months in the group of Academic Info of Faculty of Education Undiksha. We will follow the target which has been set by the institution, by targeting 85%. First, in the future, we keep establishing coordination with Tracer Study Division, just now there were also some suggestions related to instrument which we will learn first. Second, as the suggestion from the 2nd Vice Dean, we will optimalize the alumni group. Tracer Study Division explained that those who belong to the alumni were data which were entered in Data Base of Higher Education. We just found out the technique, mechanism, and explanation of Tracer Study, our the future hope is that we can achieve that 85% target,” he explained.
This scholar of Elementary School Teacher Study Program also explained that Tracer Study was in line with the Key Performance Indicator, especially the first one about the impermanence of graduates in the world of work.
“ The relation of Tracer Study with Key Performance Indicator is extraordinary, especially in the first one, from Tracer Study data in which there are questions about job, and from this we now that if the percentage is huge, it means that the competency that we develop in the Study Program gives positive impact”, he concluded.
