Badung – Students of the Faculty of Education (FIP) Undiksha developed the E-Fishien Website innovation for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Kelan Traditional Village, Badung Regency, Bali. This step is one of the efforts to improve the local community’s economy, which is outlined in the Innovillage program in 2022.
The Innovillage 2022 program is a Social Project competition, a collaboration between PT Telkom Indonesia and universities with the theme “Empowering Young Sociopreneurs for National Development” to accommodate students to be actively involved in overcoming social problems of rural communities, through applicable digital innovations that are related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Flamboyant Team led by I Nyoman Arya Apriana with members I Komang Mas Haldi Surya Cahyana and Kadek Cahya Hindira Aryanti from the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD) mentored by Drs. I Wayan Sujana, S.Pd., M.Pd., managed to qualify as the top 150 Social Project Innovillage in 2022.
Team leader Arya Apriana explained that after making observations and interviews, it was revealed that the lack of land to create a market made the people of Kelan Village sell their caught fish to neighboring villages, which resulted in low income of the local community. Because of these problems, his party and his team initiated a digital media innovation called E-Fishien as a solution to support the economic activities of fishermen in Kelan Traditional Village.
“We initiated this innovation because people have difficulty in marketing their catches. Hopefully E-Fishien can be a solution in improving the fishermen’s economy,” he explained on Tuesday (04/10/2022).
This breakthrough received appreciation from the Vice Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Putu Aditya Antara, S.Pd., M.Pd. He assessed that student participation in this prestigious event was a form of real contribution in dealing with problems in society. The Vice Dean from Medahan Village, Gianyar, is always committed to continuing to improve achievementsby maximizing funding, coaching and mapping student potential.
“It is extraordinary, this innovation is in line with the Tri Dharma (Three Obligations) of higher education. We have prepared a matching fund for the sustainability of this program,” said Aditya.
Furthermore, he hoped that this innovation could penetrate to the next level and be ranked the best. “Hopefully every year we can participate in this prestigious event, as our capital to increase competitiveness and of course as a benchmark for us to be excellent and outstanding,” he concluded.
