Singaraja– Faculty of Education (FIP) Undiksha through the Basic Education Department Student Association (HMJ Pendas) held the Gema National Essay Competition for the first time in 2022, the opening of which took place in the FIP Seminar Room, on Saturday (17/12/2022) morning. This semi-online activity was attended directly by the Deputy Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Putu Aditya Antara, S.Pd., M.Pd., accompanied by the Secretary of the Pendas Department, Dr. I Gede Astawan, S.Pd., M.Pd., Chair of the Simkatmawa Cluster, I Kadek Edi Yudiana, M.Pd., and student supervisor lecturer at FIP ??Undiksha.
HMJ Pendas’ flagship work program carries the theme “Through National Essay Echoes, Create a Smart Generation (Smart, Educative, Rational, Independent, and Educated)” as stated by the Chair of the Committee, Ni Kadek Ananda Kumara Sinta from the PGSD Study Program. He said, based on the data collected, there were 498 participants classified as 274 Individuals and 224 Groups spread across various universities in Indonesia. It was also conveyed that this activity was filled with a National Seminar Webinar featuring resource persons, Dr. I Gede Astawan, S.Pd., M.Pd.
“This competition is a breakthrough from HMJ. “Today the top 10 finalists will be announced who will then take part in the final presentation stage competing for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place and hopefuls on Tuesday, December 20, 2022,” he explained.
In his speech, Deputy Dean Dr. Aditya, who represented the Chancellor of Undiksha, appreciated the activities led by HMJ Pendas. He considered that the essay competition was a reflection of students as academic people. Furthermore, the Deputy Dean from Medahan Village, Gianyar emphasized that the competition participants should be able to become problem-solving agents for problems that exist in society.
“These students are part of the intellectual community, so this competition must be able to educate everyone. “These participants should be able to offer solutions to existing problems, then put them into written work,” he said.
He also said that he hopes that this activity will continue to be carried out as an effort to educate the entire academic community, especially in the Faculty of Education. For this reason, he emphasized that the leadership always supports work programs initiated by Ormawa within the FIP Undiksha environment. Support so far has been shown by mentoring and preparing funding sourced from the Faculty’s DIPA.
“This competition is a characteristic of the academic community. “We always support, we fund this superior activity and we guide students to make this event more exciting and better,” he concluded. (hms Dewa Nida)
