Development of Digital Module Innovation is a grant topic launched by the Directorate of Learning, Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture. Lecturers at various universities act as driving lecturers who have the right innovation strategy in developing learning modules so that students can have innovative skills independently. Digital Module Innovation Grants can increase the collection of digital and open modules/materials that can be easily accessed by students, as well as increase the dynamics of the learning process in higher education, foster innovation skills, and ultimately improve the quality of higher education in Indonesia.
20 July 2020 Spada Indonesia announced the recipients of the 2020 Digital Module Innovation Development Fund Assistance. The Educational Technology Study Program was one of those who passed the program. As Coordinator of the Study Program and chairman of the proposer, Dr. I Komang Sudarma, S.Pd., M.Pd feels very proud to be able to qualify for this program, “We have designed the proposal well. We need to inform you that only 2 Educational Technology study programs from dozens of TP study programs at other universities in Indonesia have qualified for funding, namely 1. TP FIP Undiksha Study Program and TP Study Program from the State University of Malang (UM). Of course, this is very encouraging and motivates us in the TP study program to always be the best,” said Sudarma.
Many parties participated in drafting the proposal consisting of Dr. I Komang Sudarma, S.Pd., M.Pd, Prof. Anak Agung Gede Agung, M.Pd, Adrianus I Wayan Ilia Yuda Sukmana, S.Kom, M.Pd, and Dewa Gede Agus Putra Prabawa, S.Pd., M.Pd, especially Dr. Gde Wawan Sudatha, ST, M, Pd and Dr. I Made Tegeh, S.Pd., M.Pd who supports the TP Study Program in providing input for improving the proposal. Sudarma added “Besides the full support from our leadership, both at the chancellor level and at the faculty level, they support us. In particular, we would like to thank WR1 who facilitated us a lot as well as Mr. Dr. Gde Wawan Sudatha, ST, M, Pd who provided a lot of direction for the perfection of our proposal.”
After passing this program, the Educational Technology Study Program has plans to turn the proposal idea into a reality according to the plan written in the proposal. The target is that in October digital teaching materials can be uploaded to Spada Indonesia. The Education Technology Study Program will be funded by the organizers for 50 million rupiah to realize the plan according to the proposal submitted. This will certainly have a positive impact that can be felt by students. Firstly, learning amid the COVID-19 outbreak will be very helpful in learning lecture material on the basics of photography. “This is because the modules we have designed have been adapted to students’ learning styles and we have also opened up the use of technology applications in learning, such as developing digital content in the form of video tutorial formats, animation, graphic videos, and augmented reality,” explained Sudarma. In general, there are 5 innovations carried out, namely, 1) learning strategy, 2) use of technology, 3) content type, 4) student engagement, and 5) assessment.
Apart from that, Sudarma said that if this module could be included in SPADA, many students from outside Undiksha or study programs from other universities would be able to take online lectures. The point is to make lectures more effective and enjoyable because this module’s learning design and digital content design have been adapted to the characteristics of the Melineal and Z generations and the assessments are made as interesting as possible, for example by using KAHOOT. In this way, it is hoped that it can change students’ views which were previously very rigid to become more flexible and fun.
