Mutiara Magta, M.Pd shared her knowledge by taking the topic “Sexual Education for Early Childhood” on Undiksha Sharing. As a PG PAUD lecturer, of course, he must master the issues that occur in early childhood. One of them is about the increasing number of cases of sexual violence affecting young children. Both as victims and perpetrators. Of course, this is very worrying. From there, the author of the book Children’s Education Science learned a lot about the background to why children are vulnerable to becoming victims. According to him, sexual topics are topics that are considered taboo to be discussed by society, let alone discussed with children, many adults feel uncomfortable when discussing sexuality, “even though sexuality is a natural part that is very close to human beings, so sexuality must be a topic that can be discussed openly because sexuality is not always related to intimate relationships. Ignorance will lead us to darkness. So, knowledge about sexuality must be spread,” she explained.
In the online lecture which lasted approximately 1 hour, Mutiara explained the basic knowledge of sexuality that must be given, such as knowledge of gender and body parts, “the simplest thing is his existence, whether they are a man or a woman, if it is a man the characteristics What is her nature like, what about women? Then, what parts does the body have, how do they look after them, what functions do they have.” This is one of the preventive steps that parents can take.
This is his first time as a resource person at an online event. This Jakarta-born lecturer said that when he spoke to people whose faces he couldn’t see directly, it certainly gave him a different impression, he didn’t know whether the presentation he was giving was interesting or not and wondered whether the participants were bored or not. “Usually when they meet face to face, their expressions are the key for me to explain the material better. It’s a new experience for me, and it’s good.”
This online lecture was attended by 60 participants and the participants gave positive responses to the many questions asked of the speakers. For him, the Undiksha program is so good that it has increased his interest in participating in the next batches, and hopes that Undiksha will have a better image and people will get to know its lecturers better.
