Undiksha continues to move against Covid-19 by formulating solutions to prevent the development of the Covid-19 pandemic. This was discussed through a discussion forum held on Monday (20/2/2020). The discussion emphasized attitudes toward facing the new normal. The discussion which took place in the Ganesha I Room of the Rectorate invited Dandim 1609/Buleleng Lieutenant Colonel Inf Muhammad Windra Lisrianto and a number of Undiksha academics from the fields of health, education, law, social culture, science, and economics. Reporting from undiksha.ac.id, the discussion touched on the emergence of COVID-19 cases, especially in the Buleleng Regency area due to society’s lack of discipline. The prevention protocols that have been recommended by the government have not been welcomed with the same enthusiasm. In response to this, it is deemed necessary to provide more massive education to the public, especially those who carry out activities in public places. This is also balanced by enforcing the rules against violators.
Dr. I Wayan Widiana, S.Pd., M.Pd as a representative from the Faculty of Education was also present at the activity. He said that New Normal is a new habit that is applied to everyday life. The new normal is currently moving very slowly. So it needs to be accelerated. The way to speed it up is with consistent movements accompanied by a role model. According to Widiana, several habits that occur quickly are the online learning process and working at home. This movement will be successful if it is carried out by the majority of people so that a small number of people will follow it. What is meant by the majority are ASN groups, police, soldiers, pupils and students as well as indigenous community groups. However, currently, indigenous communities have not succeeded in accelerating the new normal.
According to Widiana, it will take 1-3 months if you want to reduce the virus and secure the economy. By paying attention to the phases of life which consist of
- Comfortable life phase: society is still following.
- Pre-critical phase: the period when people’s savings start to run low, there are no signs of economic improvement, and there are no policies. Society begins to violate people’s lives
- Critical phase: the phase where people no longer have savings, live to work, and have to leave and start not to care about the rules and regulations
- Free phase: no rules, no expectations, and no social life. Society no longer cares about him.
Currently, society is in a critical phase. “It is in this critical phase that we can move to accelerate the new normal. Apart from that, in order for people to move easily, certainty, consistency, and role models. So from the beginning, I was forced to become used to it, and eventually, it became a habit. We have to force people to adopt the new normal until it becomes a habit. The habit of maintaining distance, using a mask, washing hands, and using hand sanitizer. “In this case, it is necessary to have a party in charge of control, namely Dandim and friends,” he explained.
The Deputy Dean II of FIP conveyed several suggestions aimed at the government, civil servants, and the community. The government needs to reduce government programs that cause people to leave or allow green zone areas to leave. Then discipline the community based on area. If the area violates it, it will be placed in self-quarantine under strict guard. It’s time for State Servants to Serve, involving all ASN, Police, and soldiers to provide outreach to the community. As well as changing existing activities to educate the public, for example with a Clean and Healthy Living Competition.
What Widiana conveyed was in line with Undiksha’s plan to increase the number of sinks in a number of locations to make it easier for the academic community to wash their hands and the plan to have an assisted village as the front guard against Covid-19 which is currently in the process of being studied. Dandim, Lt. Col. Inf Muhammad Windra Lisrianto appreciated the various thoughts expressed by Undiksha academics in this discussion. It is hoped that Undiksha can be an example in preventing the spread of COVID-19 so that the community can follow it, especially in the Buleleng Regency area.
