Singaraja– The progress of Undiksha Faculty of Education (FIP) students in the field of scientific writing cannot be doubted. The reason is that PGSD study program students, I Gusti Komang Agus Angga Putra Widiarta and Ni Luh Puspa Pratiwi have once again made their alma mater proud in a national-level competition. This time it was from the Gema Essay Competition event organized by HMJ Pendas FIP Undiksha, centered in the FIP Seminar Room, on Friday (23/12/2022).
At this annual event, Angga and Puspa, as they are familiarly known, successfully won silver and bronze medals, after presenting two innovations in Augmented Reality-based learning media which were initiated to increase literacy. To Public Relations, Angga explained that the low reading literacy among Indonesian people is a concern for the government, especially in Bali. For this reason, the Ministry of Education and Culture launched the School Literacy movement as an effort to foster good character in students. Supporting this, his party and the team designed learning media that was integrated with technology to support local cultural literacy.
“We see that there are learning materials that are relevant to government policy regarding the school literacy movement, and we feel that this can support the preservation of local culture in particular,” he explained.
Furthermore, the student born in 2002 expressed his happiness after successfully winning a medal for the umpteenth time. He is optimistic that in the future he can take part in similar competitions and occupy the top position.
“Of course, I am very grateful, thank God, I can win again in the essay competition. “The target in the next competition is to win first place,” he said.
On the other hand, Puspa explained that the lack of relevant learning media in implementing inclusive education, especially for deaf people, was the main factor in creating this learning media.
“We combine Balinese culture and technology in it. Apart from games in the form of hard copy” This media is also equipped with supporting applications that suit the characteristics of SLB students, where there is sign language so they can apply the media,” she explained.
The beautiful girl, who is now in her 5th semester, admitted that she was proud to be able to collect medals for her beloved faculty again. It was also said that this innovation would be further developed so that it could be useful in society.
“Very impressive, after so many months of hiatus, grateful to be allowed to win again. “In the future, maybe I will make products to be applied in society,” continued Puspa.
This brilliant achievement was welcomed proudly by the Deputy Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Putu Aditya Antara, S.Pd., M.Pd.
“The achievements achieved by Angga and Puspa are extraordinary. “It’s not easy, especially since there are quite a lot of participants,” he said.
The Deputy Dean from Medahan Village, Gianyar emphasized that the leadership supports students in participating in various competitions. Support so far has been demonstrated by funding, coaching, and mentoring. It was also conveyed that, as a form of appreciation, this achievement would be equivalent to course grades, with the hope that students would become more enthusiastic about taking part in various competitions.
“We, the leadership, are committed to continuing to provide appreciation, both in the form of flayers, grade conversions, and even providing incentives to students who succeed in winning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place at national and even international levels,” he concluded. (hms Dewa Nida)
