Singaraja– A proud achievement was achieved by the Regional Arts Student Activity Unit (UKM) (KESDA) at Ganesha Education University (Undiksha). UKM, which is a forum for students who have potential in the arts, won first place in the Creative Dance Competition in the 2021 ASEAN Dance Competition organized by Tarlac Agricultural University Philippines. This creative dance competition which collaborated with 8 Undiksha students was under the auspices of the dance instructor, I Nyoman Sugita Rupiana, S.Sn.
Kadek Dian Indah Sari, one of the dancers who took part in the competition, was very happy because she was able to make her alma mater proud at the international event. He was with his seven friends, namely Ni Putu Sintia Dewi Kesuma Wardani from the English study program; Ni Putu Rina Maharani from the PKK study program, Ni Komang Ni Komang Ari Rumidiartini from the Bachelor of Accounting study program; Ni Putu Tatik Ariani from the English Language Study Program; Kadek Dwi Nanditasari from the PGSD study program; Komang Winda Tarisa Dewi from the PKK study program; and Ni Putu Putri Mahaliani from the Bachelor of Accounting study program brought the conceptShake in this event. TraditionShake is a upakara ritual carried out in groups where each person brings a giftup(stick for pounding). The drum is then hit on a clapper or mortar to produce a dynamic and harmonious sound. This activity is immortalized by the dancer to become a dance movement.
The PGSD study program student revealed several special tips that he and his friends used to be able to present such moving dance works. Starting from conceptualizing the movements and combining them to create a series of dances that have meaning according to the concept that has been taken. During the process of creating the dance, Dian and her team were also directed by the dance instructor.
“Apart from that, the most important thing is our enthusiasm and cooperation in training and how to organize training with other activities that we participate in. We also always try to show our best even though there are a few obstacles in the process. “We also have commitment and seriousness, so we are able to produce works of art that meet expectations,” said the student born in 2002.
Dian, who has loved the world of dance since she was in elementary school, is taking part in an ASEAN-level dance competition for the first time and has been able to achieve brilliant achievements. The main capital invested by Dian is self-confidence. To take part in performing arts activities like this, students who receive KIP-Kuliah always put aside their shyness. The target in the future, Dian will be more active in participating in any activities to hone her potential. Dian hopes that in the future KESDA UKM will become an organization that always moves creatively and aspirationally without forgetting to prioritize openness and kinship. Apart from that, KESDA UKM continues to be a forum for preserving Balinese culture. Hms FIP Undiksha
