Character development for the younger generation is a special concern of the Faculty of Education, which supports this through the Student Executive Board holding the National Level Selection of Youth with Characteristics. This prestigious event, which competes for the Bali Governor’s rotating trophy, was held semi-online for the second time, where the opening was held at the Undiksha Auditorium Building, while still implementing the COVID-19 health protocol, while several invitees and participants attended the activity online via Zoom Meeting (24 /10/2021).
The selection of young people with good character, which was initiated by the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Education, aims to select young people with good character, who will later be able to master non-intellectual intelligence, which is balanced with intellectual intelligence among SMA/SMK/MA students and university students throughout Indonesia.
This activity, which is in its 17th year, was officially opened by the Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs, Public Relations and Alumni, Prof. Dr. I Wayan Suastra, M.Pd. In his speech, he said that his party, representing the Undiksha leadership, really appreciated this activity, which was in line with Undiksha’s vision, namely “To become a superior university based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy in Asia by 2045”.
“To be a superior human being, it is not enough with intellectual intelligence, but must be balanced with spiritual emotional intelligence, so 80% of our success is determined not only by intellectual intelligence but more by personality, character and soft skills is something that contributes a lot to social life. “Therefore, this is very important for all of us, in order to produce intelligent, creative, innovative people who also have Indonesian character,” he said.
“I hope that this activity will continue to be carried out because it can make a very positive contribution to the younger generation. “We hope that in the future the students who are selected as winners can become ambassadors to the people of Indonesia and even the world,” he continued.
The head of the PRB XVII committee, Ni Putu Putri Budiastini explained the number of PRB participants this year, experienced a significant increase from previous years, how could the number of participants this year reach the figure of 128 participants from various schools and universities in Indonesia. After following a fairly strict selection, the top 15 finalists were obtained who will take a personality test, essay presentation, performance video evaluation, and talent interest test before performing in the evening.
