Singaraja– Faculty of Education (FIP) Undiksha once again triumphed at the international event of the Indonesian Young Scientist Association (IYSA). This time, a proud achievement was presented by students of the Primary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD) in the name of I Gusti Komang Agus Angga Putra Widiarta. They were part of 2 Undiksha teams consisting of Gusti Ngurah Oka Angga Dipa from the Chemistry Education Study Program, I Gede Arya Suta from the Chemistry Education Study Program, Ni Luh Ayu Suandewi from the English Education Study Program, and Luh Putriasih from the Management Study Program. Undiksha’s proud team with the guidance of mentor Drs. I Made Suarjana, M.Pd., win 2 Gold Medals and a Myso Special Award, after presenting the innovation Fragrant Beauty: Natural Perfume Innovation Based on Ceremonial Waste to Optimize Zero Waste and MAKSARA BALI: Balinese Writing Application to Understanding Balinese Writing for Elementary Schools in Bali. This prestigious event is based in Yogyakarta on 22 – 26 August 2022.
The success of I Gusti Komang Agus Angga Putra Widiarta with the team cannot be separated from the special training and teamwork carried out before appearing in this prestigious event. He expressed his pride at having succeeded in winning a gold medal for his beloved faculty. “This is my first time appearing at an international event, it is an honor to be able to show my best for the faculty, especially through this event, I can improve my English skills,” he said.
After the event, he, who is familiarly called Angga, explained that Fragrant Beauty is an innovative product in the form of natural perfume made from prayer waste, such as ylang-ylang, frangipani, and Cempaka flowers, as an effort to overcome environmental pollution caused by the accumulation of organic and non-organic waste. “Organic waste is often ignored because it is thought to decompose by itself, but it can rot and pollute the environment. “That’s why we initiated this innovation,” he said.
The second innovation, named Maksara Bali, was also presented, which is an abbreviation of Malajah Aksara Bali, namely an application for learning Balinese script to improve understanding of Balinese script in elementary school students. He said that the creation of this innovation was motivated by the lack of learning media capable of supporting Balinese script material so the learning process became less effective. Furthermore, he hopes that this media can help teachers develop skills and improve the quality of learning, especially in Balinese language content. “This learning media is equipped with material from Swalalita Akasara, Wianjana, Voice Script, and Balinese Script, with the hope of increasing students’ learning motivation,” he added.
This brilliant achievement was welcomed proudly by the Dean of FIP Undiksha, Prof. Dr. I Ketut Gading, M.Psi., who said that this achievement was very important to increase the competitiveness of the faculty both at the national and international levels. More than that, the number one person in the Faculty of Education believes that this achievement can support the future ranking of Simkatmawa. “This achievement is very encouraging, we from the leadership give full appreciation to the students and supervisors for their success in achieving this achievement,” said Dean Gading.
The Deputy Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs, Dr. Putu Aditya Antara, S.Pd., M.Pd. His party gave full appreciation for the achievements achieved by FIP Undiksha students. It was also said that this achievement could not only contribute to Undiksha’s FIP ranking, especially in the student affairs sector. More than that, this achievement can increase the competitiveness of students when they become graduates. “This achievement can be used as a companion to your diploma when applying for a job later. “Therefore, I invite all students to always be enthusiastic about taking part in various competitions, both at the national and international levels,” he concluded.
