Singaraja- The Faculty of Education, Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) pays serious attention to the independent campus and independent learning policy rolled out by the Ministry of Education and Culture. To support this, efforts are being made to expand educational development collaboration, one of which was initiated with the Faculty of Education, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. This matter was discussed, on Tuesday (3/3/2020).
The discussion which took place on the FIP campus was attended by Deputy Chancellor I Undiksha, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, S.T., M.TI. He said that collaboration with universities abroad continues to be encouraged by the university and is welcomed by the faculty. This step is also very important to support the internationalization at-home program launched by the Undiksha Chancellor in 2019. “This collaboration is important for the university. We want more and more overseas students to study at Undiksha so that it can become a home for the international community. “We also want students here and lecturers to be able to take part in programs at foreign universities,” he explained.
He emphasized that until now Undiksha has collaborated with universities spread across several countries in Asia, such as Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Malaysia. The program is not only in the form of student and lecturer exchanges but also in the implementation of PKL and PPL programs, as well as fast tracks. “We hope that collaboration can also be established with the UKM Education Faculty. “It could be student exchange, lecturer exchange, or research,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Dean of FIP Undiksha, Dr. I Ketut Gading, M.Psi., said that according to his thoughts, four areas have opportunities for cooperation. First, visiting professors/lecturers, one of which is to provide international experience and insight to the lecturers. “We have five professors. “There are also eleven lecturers who have doctorates in various fields,” he said.
The second program is in the form of joint research involving lecturers. This program is for sharing research experiences, expanding the generalizability of research results, and producing articles for publication. Third, in the form of student exchanges, one of which is to answer the policy of independent campuses and independent learning. The program followed can be in the form of classroom lectures or research. “This program, our students can study there for two semesters,” he said. Meanwhile, the fourth is in the form of a joint publication as an effort to accelerate the dissemination of articles written by lecturers from each university. “Here you can also write articles together. “Because there is a tendency for articles written jointly by authors from several countries to be more competitive to be published in reputable international journals,” he added.
Dean of the UKM Education Faculty, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Norazah Mohammad Nordin is very open to this collaboration offer. He even offered Undiksha lecturers to continue their doctoral education at UKM with a Ph.D. “As a UKM, I came to pick you up,” he said. She emphasized that this collaboration must be mutually supportive so that what is initiated can run as expected. “There must be the same spirit,” she stressed. Regarding collaboration with foreign universities, she said that many had been carried out, including those in Indonesia.
