Karangasem– The development of the era of globalization has had a huge impact on changes in people’s lifestyles towards a more modern direction. This results in people tending to choose new cultures which are considered more practical, compared to local cultures. Apart from that, the younger generation’s lack of interest in learning is one of the factors in the erosion of culture itself.
Based on this problem, the Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa) of the Basic Education Department Student Association (HMJ Pendas) Faculty of Education (FIP) Undiksha, held training in writing Balinese script and Balinese dance for elementary, middle school, and high school/vocational school students. , as a form of real student action in realizing the development of Smart Tianyar Village. This event is centered at the Lascarya Paramaseva Foundation, Tianyar Village, Karangasem, (01/09/2022) local time.
The head of the Ormawa PPK team, Made Nirmala Karunika Sari from the PGSD Study Program, explained that this activity was divided into 2 (two) sessions. At the first meeting, he and the team provided material on the procedures and basics of writing Balinese script, then continued with writing Balinese script. Even though it is relatively new, this activity received a positive response from the local community.
“I see a lot of potential that the children in Tianyar Village have, they are also very enthusiastic about taking part in this training
The student who was born in 2002 hopes that this training can become a forum for the younger generation to hone themselves to preserve ancestral culture.
“Through this activity, we hope that the lontars will be well looked after and cared for so that their existence will remain stable and sustainable,” hoped Nirmala. (hms Dewa Nida)
