Students from the Faculty of Education have once again made achievements at the national level. This time the achievement achieved was an achievement in a creative dance competition. On Friday, July 31, 2020, the Creative Dance Competition Jury announced the Team from the Faculty of Education Undiksha Denpasar as first place. The competition with the theme “Creating a CERIA Generation (intelligent, energetic, responsive, innovative and appreciative)” was held by Muhamadiyah University Surakarta.
In this competition, the FIP Undiksha Dance Team performed the Pracandanala Dance. The stylist for this dance is Luh Putu Mahadewi Widnyani. This dance is based on the story of Arjuna who sought revenge for the death of his son Abimanyu. Hearing Arjuna’s oath, the Kauravas arranged a strategy to protect Jayadratha from Arjuna. When the sun was almost setting Jayadratha was still far from Arjuna’s reach. Seeing this, Sri Krishna covered the sun with Cakra Sudarsana so that the atmosphere became dark as if the sun had set. When he heard that the war had ended, Jayadratha showed himself, seeing this opportunity, Arjuna then raised his bow and launched an arrow which severed Jayadratha’s neck.
The FIP Undiksha Denpasar Dance Team consists of 3 female students named Ni Nyoman Putri Hartayani, Ni Made Ayu Prasista, and Ni Putu Melly Antari. The dance that was performed received a score of 340 points from the jury, thus leading the FIP Undiksha Team to win first place. Even though it was not easy, I was able to produce outstanding work as stated by one of the team members, “As a dancer, I have to say that this is not an easy job to do. dance, with the right harmony, expression and gestures”.
