Singaraja – Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) strives to improve the quality of its academic community. The largest campus in North Bali is increasingly showing its fangs, including increasing the accreditation of journals produced by lecturers and students. Not only achieving national accreditation such as SINTA but also being able to enter international level accreditation, one of which is DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journal).
Through the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Undiksha held a workshop with the theme Undiksha Journal Accreditation Quarantine and Directory of Open Access Journal (DOAJ) Index in 2021, from 18, 19, 22, 23 November 2021 at Bali Taman Hotel’n Resorts. This workshop targets journal development teams in each Undiksha faculty.
Met outside the workshop room, Gede Aditra Pradnyana, S.Kom., M.Kom, and the Undiksha e-journal development team explained that currently, Undiksha has 112 national standardized ones. However, only 82 have been indexed by SINTA. This activity is expected to increase the number of SINTA indexes for Undiksha journals so that all Undiksha journals are SINTA indexed. Apart from that, there are several journals that can be upgraded to SINTA. The target is that by 2023 there will be no Undiksha journals indexed by SINTA 4.
During the activity, there are stages carried out to accredit journals to DOAJ, such as preparation, proposal, and plans to ultimately submit journals to DOAJ.
“In this activity, we also provide assistance so that the Undiksha journal starts to be indexed by DOAJ. “The target is to have 10-20 Undiksha journals in the first semester of 2022 already indexed by DOAJ,” explained Aditra.
I Nyoman Laba Jayanta, S.Pd., M.Pd., who is also on the e-journal development team, also stated the same thing. Journal accreditation that is indexed by SINTA, DOAJ, or Scopus has many benefits, especially for authors and institutions. From the author’s point of view, this journal is usually used for promotions, such as Head Professor and Professor. From the institutional side, journal accreditation is used as a barometer to determine the quality of the institution.
The difficulty often experienced by journal development teams in entering journal accreditation is the quality of the articles uploaded. Not only from the author but also from the reviewer. “To improve the quality of articles, the institution continuously carries out journal quarantine, and the institution tries to continue to improve it so that the quality of the journal will get even better.” Profit concluded.hms FIP Undiksha
